I get asked a few questions quite regularly. Questions like why I don't play the favs like Skinny Puppy, throbbing Gristle etc. Or, harder stuff, darker stuff, lighter stuff, and so on. I have updated the About page in hopes of answering some of these questions. I used a hypothetical play list idea to try describing my method of selecting tracks for a show. Although the actual process is much more emotional than described, the idea has me curious. The one good thing about this approach is that some of the music that I have wanted to play for over a year, and just haven't, will eventually get played. So I am going to give it a try for a show or two, and see what happens. I am sure I will add some emotion in the end, some tracks just don't belong together on the same show for example. For the next month or so I will put away all my music I can not play on the show, listening only the the music I can play and see what rises to the top. Should be interesting.

 For those who are curious, here is the smart play list layout.

Playlist: IRP All (all the music I can play on the show)

Playlist: IRP Played (music I have already played on the show)

Smart Playlist: IRP To Rate ( Match all | Playlist is IRP All | Rating is 0 | Limit to 25 items selected by random) Gota get em rated

Smart Playlist: IRP To Play (Match all | Playlist is IRP All | Playlist is not IRP Played | Rating is greater than 3 | Limit to 6 items selected by most often played) This should generate my top 6 tracks that haven't been played on the show, and would be a good start for a show

Smart Playlist: IRP To Play Again (Playlist is IRP all |Rating is greater than 3)  Don't want to forget the favorites we found on the show do we?

Now that I have typed that all out, what about one more smart play list as follows:

Change IRP to play Again to  (limit to 1 or 2 items selected by random) and IRP to play to (limit to 4 or 5 items selected by most often played)

and add new smart playlist IRP Next Show (Playlist is IRP to play | Playlist is IRP to play again | limit to 6 or 7 items)

This would give us the top 4 or 5 tracks never played on the show, and a random 1 or 2 favorite tracks we played before.

 Yes, this should be top secret, but go ahead and steal it for your show, its about getting the music to the people and I have a LOT of music to get out!
