If you are music lover like us, you should listen to our show!

How it all started:

Long boring music history aside…

Found the sound of the band Gravity Kills. While looking on the net for more information and more music, I learned there just was no more. While on a site about Gravity Kills I found a l recommendation list of some other bands with a similar sound. Many of which I had never heard. Somewhere about that time I learned about podcasting. I looked for a music podcast that played music I was into and at the time there were none. So, what the hell, guess I will start one, cant be that hard right? Go listen to the first couple of shows, man they sound like crap. A handful of cash, and gigs of software downloads latter, well, it sounds a little better now. Anyway, I needed a name for the show, and was listening to nothing but industrial music at the time, we called it Industrial Radio. Which is both good and bad. It kinda limits me to what I can play (we all know I break that rule regularly) but at the same time if I named it "Jons music mix of the day" who would really listen to it?

How we select the music to play:

The show became more successful than I ever thought it would, and now people just send CD's and Mp3 all the time. I never really thought about it until now, but if I set up a smart play list on my player I would probably be selecting the same music I am now.

The play list would be something like: Put all the music sent to me in a play list, and rate the music as I listened. At the end of the week, sort the play list by rating, then play count. Then play the top 5 or so tracks on the show.

I try to arrange the tracks on the show so the show has flow, and have even started considering BPM when doing this. But the play list idea wouldn't be too far off.

This is were the "If it doesn't suck I'll play it" comes in. If it sucked, it wouldn't end up at the top of the play list.

How to request we play something:

Go ahead and request, but don't expect me to play it. When we started I was sent, out of the blue, a record label contract. It was about 50 pages, and the end result was I could play the music on this label. Some of the bands we all love are on this label. I didn't sign it. This leaves us with unsigned and indie bands. Which soon became my favorite part of doing the show. Anyone can play the top and or classic industrial bands that we all love. The fun part is discovering the undiscovered, and then sharing the noise with the listeners. So if your going to request something, request a sound or a feel, or sounds like. I am probably not aloud to play what your requesting anyway. Most bands on most labels don't even own the rights to let me play their work. The good news when it comes to bands on labels is we can play most of the music under the Metropolis label, so request away.

I probably have enough music right now to produce 200 shows. So the bottom line is I end up playing what would end up at the top of that play list if I had one.

How to get your music played:

CD is the best format. It doesnt even have to be pretty. Just so long as the music doesn't suck.
